Son of Mr. and Mrs. John A. Dietz.  Removed from old cemetery Dec 14, 1897.  Buried in Alamosa Cemetery Dec 14, 1897 in Sec 2, Block 3, Lot 13.  Child died Dec 14, 1896.

 

Wills, Eva

Daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph E. Wills.  Died Jan 1898 at Mosca, Colo of scarlet fever.  Buried in Alamosa Cemetery Jan 21, 1898 in Sec 1, Block 1, Lot 6.  Age 2 years, 10 mo, 26 days.

 

Emperius, William

Son of Theodore and Minnie Emperius.  Died Mar 14, 1898.  Buried in Alamosa Cemetery Mar 16, 1898 in brick vault on Sec 1, Block 1, Lot 14.  Age 21 years, 3 mo, 18 days.  Disease: sarcoma.

 

Kelly, Mary A.

Mother of Mrs. Frank Brumbly.  Died in Alamosa on Mar 24, 1898.  Buried in Alamosa Cemetery in Sec 1, Block 6, Lot 11.  Age 65.  Disease: dropsy.

 

Eckles, H. C.

Son of Mr. and Mrs. Allen E. Eckles.  Diedin Salida Hospital on Mar 29, 1898.  Buried in Alamosa Cemetery on Mar 31, 1898 in Sec 2, block 2, Lot 6.  Cause of death: fracture of base of skull obtained while braking for D&RGRR.  Age 35 years.

Son of Mr. and Mrs. Chas Hildreth.  Died June 5, 1893.  Buried in the Alamosa Cemetery in Potters Field by mistake.  Taken up and buried on Sec 2, Block 1, Lot 3 on May 9, 1898.

Infant son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Hildreth.  Died May 17, 1895 and buried in Alamosa Cemetery in the Potters Field by mistake.  Removed and buried on Sec 2, Block 1, Lot 3 on May 9, 1898.

Lewis, Hattie

Daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Chas Lewis.  Died May 15, 1898 at Santa Fe, NM.  Buried May 17, 1898 on Sec 1, Block 1, Lot 5.  Cause of death: Aedema of the glottis.  Age 8 years, 2 mo.

Taken up by the G. A. R.’s off of G. A. R. Lot 14 in Sec 1, Block 9 and buried on Lot 15 in Sec 1, Block 9 by the request of the family.  Died Sept 9, 1897.  Killed while acting marshall by O. P. Brown.

 

Engley, Mrs. Hinda Jane

Wife of Eugene Engley.  Died June 16, 1898 at Alamosa of cancer of the womb.  Buried June 17, 1898 in Alamosa Cemetery in Sec 1, Block 4, Lot 1.  Age 43 years, 1 mo, 20 days.

 

Johnston, Joseph

Died July 20, 1898 at 2 p.m.  Carpenter by trade and occupation.  Met his death falling from Rev. Novoril’s building while at work.  Buried July 22, 1898 at 11 a.m. in Chas Strain’s Lot No. 16, Sec 1, Block 2.  Age 62 years.  Grave opened and closed by Mr. Rohricks and Rev. Novoril.  Destitute.  Married.  Left wife and daughter.

 

Booth, Master

Son of Judge C. C. Holbrook and wife.  Died on June 24, 1898 at 11 a.m.  Age 14 years.  Accidentally drowned in Rio Grande River while bathing.  Body recovered and buried July 23, 1898.  Funeral 1 p.m.  Grave opened and closed by Augustas Gertisen assisted by Mr. Carr and son.  Sec 2, Block 3, Lot 5.  Glen Arnold Holbrook died May 31, 1922.  Buried in the same lot.  Brother of Booth.

Died Sept 18, 1898 at Antonito of apoplexy.  Buried Sept 20, 1898 in Alamosa Cemetery on G. A. R.  Lots in Sec 1, Block 9.  Age 54 years.  An old soldier.  2nd Ohio Volunteer Cavalry.  No relations.

Daughter of L. J. and Dolores Tobin.  Died Nov 15, 1898.  Buried Nov 17, 1898 in Alamosa Cemetery on Lot 8 of Sec 2, Block 2.  Age 4 years, 10 mo, 15 days.  Disease: peritonitis.

 

Wetzel, Mary Emeline

Died Nov 17, 1898.  Buried Nov 18, 1898 in Alamosa Cemetery in Sec 2, Block 3, Lot 7.  Age 47 years, 8 mo.  Disease: dropsy or leukemia.

Son of Mr. and Mrs. Morris O’Donnel.  Died of pneumonia at Alamosa on April 25, 1899.  Buried April 26, 1899 in allotment 24 in Potters Field.  Born Feb 26, 1899.

Hoffman, Albert

Infant son of Mr. and Mrs. William Hoffman.  Died Aug 16, 1899 at 6:00 a.m.  Buried in the Alamosa Cemetery on Aug 17, 1899 at 10:00 a.m. in Lot 1, Sec 2, Block 5.  Disease: cholera infantum.  Age 8 mo.

 

Kirby, John

Died Sunday Aug 20, 1899 between 8:00 and 9:00 p.m.  Was buried in the Alamosa Cemetery on Aug 22, 1899 in Lot 5, Sec 1, Block 9.  Age 50 years.  Deceased came through Alamosa by himself.  He took sick here and the Fraternal Union took charge of him.  He was traveling in a wagon.  He was a member of the Fraternal Union.  They sold his team and wagon to pay for his funeral expenses.

Died Dec 13, 1899 at noon (Wednesday) in Monte Vista.  Buried in the A lamosa Cemetery at 8:30 p.m. Thursday Dec 14, 1899 in Sec 2, Block 2, Lot 15.

 

Kendall, George

Died Dec 27, 1899.  Buried in the Alamosa Cemetery on Dec 28, 1899 in Lot 16, Block 4.  Died of chronic nephritis.  Deceased was about 72 years of age.  He had wealthy relatives in the east.  M. B. Colt was agent of the estate.

 

Gilbert, Frankie

Daughter of Frank and Jennie Gilbert.  Died Jan 6, 1900.  Buried in ACA Jan 7, 1900 in Lot 15, Sec 3, Block 1.  Disease: membranous croup.  Deceased was 1 year, 8 mo old.

 

Neeley, R. S.

Died at 6:00 Monday evening, Feb 7, 1900 at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. A. C. Cole.  In driving home to his ranch alone, he was thrown out of his wagon, the horse becoming unmanageable.  This happened about 3:00 in the afternoon of above named date.  Funeral Friday February 9, 1900.  Buried in Sec 2, Block 8, Lot 8.  I. H. Neeley paid grave charges of $5.00, transfer box 50 cents.  March 11, 1904.  Placed in underground vault.

 

Byraon, G. H.

Died the morning of Feb 3, 1900 in the city jail.  Cause of death being acute hephritis and alcoholism.  Buried in the Alamosa Cemetery Sunday Feb 4, 1900 at 2:30.  Masons attended the funeral.  Sec 1, Block 1, Lot 3.  Deceased was a telegraph operator.

 

Bennett, Al

Died Feb 11, 1900 on a Sunday.  Buried in Alamosa Cemetery on Feb 12, 1900.  Died in the city jail.  Cause of death: alcoholism and morphine.  Buried in Sec 1, Block 7, Lot 8.

 

Buckley, James

Died Thursday, Mar 8 at 6:00 p.m.  Buried in Sec 2, Block 2, Lot 13 at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, Mar 10.  Deceased died of acute stenosis having been sick but a short time.  Has relatives in Illinois, but lives on Mrs. Oscar Schwartz’ ranch SE of town.  He was about 50 years of age.

Son of Mr. and Mrs. D. J. King.  Died Mar 21, 1900.  Buried in Alamosa Cemetery on Mar 22, 1900 on Sec 1, Block 1, Lot 1.

Jermy, Herbert E.

Died in Pueblo, Colo on July 10, 1900.  Buried in Alamosa Cemetery on July 12, 1900 in Sec 2, Block 9, Lot 7.  Funeral services conducted by the Woodmen and Rev Taylor Douglas.  He was about 37 years of age.  Disease: sun stroke received in Pueblo while painting.  He leaves a wife, formerly Mrs. Rushworth.  Age 36 years, 11 mo, 30 days.

 

Hopkins, Ethel

Daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Hopkins of Mosca, Colo.  Died Aug 4, 1900.  Buried in Sec 1, Block 2, Lot 8 in Alamosa Cemetery on Aug 5, 1900.  Age 1 hour.

 

Rosehdahl, Cornelous

Son of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Rosendahl.  Living SW of Alamosa.  Died Aug 10, 1900.  Buried Aug 11, 1900 at 2:00 p.m. in Sec 1, Block 2, Lot 4.  Age 6 years, 6 mo.  Cause of death: after effects of scarlet fever.

 

West, William

Died Aug 24, 1900 at Alamosa.  Buried in Alamosa Cemetery in Sec 1, Block 7, Lot 1.  Age about 30.  Cause of death: overdose of morphine.  Buried by county.

 

Wetzel, J. Martin

Died at his home in Alamosa at 3:00 p.m. on Sept 15, 1900.  Buried in Sec 2, Block 3, Lot 7 on Sept 16, 1900.  Age 60 years.  Cause of death: heart disease.  Buried under supervision of Knights of Pythias.

 

Welsh, Michael

Died Sept 24, 1900 at 11 p.m.  Buried Sept 25, 1900 in Sec 1, Block 7, Lot 8.  He was killed in the Alamosa yards by a switch engine about 11:00 at night having a number of cuts on his head and face, and one leg cut off at the knee.  He was supposed to be about 60 years of age.  He served in the 8th U. S. Cavalry and was honorably discharged at Fort Garland about 20 years from this date.

 

McLaughlin, Infant

Son of Mr. and Mrs. G. L. McLaughlin.  Died on Oct 4, 1900 at 5:00 p.m.  Buried in the cemetery on Oct 6, 1900 at 2:00 p.m. in Sec 1, Block 7, Lot 5.  Age 1 year, 5 mo, 25 days.  Cause of death: inflammation of the bowels.  Father was a dispatcher in the Supt. 4th division office of D&RGRR.

 

Smith, Daniel

Died Wednesday Oct 24 at 5:00 a.m.  Buried Friday Oct 26, 1900 in Sec 1, Block 7, Lot 5.  Cause of death: hemorrhage of bowels.  Age 69 years.  He was an old timer in Alamosa.  A merchant since the town was started.  Has a brother in Wellsville, Ohio.

 

Jasper, Thomas (aka Jasper Thomas)

Died Sunday evening Oct 28, 1900 at 10:55 p.m.  Age 63 years, 6 mo.  He was born April 7, 1837.  Buried Oct 29, 1900 at 5:00 p.m.  Services at cemetery by Masons of which he was a member.  Cause of death: typhoid fever.  He died at Chas Hildreth house.  Nothing is known of relatives.  Buried in Sec 1, Block 1, Lot 3.

 

Schultz, James

Died Friday evening Nov 2, 1900 at 5:00 p.m.  Buried in G. A. R. Lot 14, Sec 1, Block 9 on Nov 3, Saturday by the G. A. R. and Masonic Lodge #44 A.F.&A.M> of which he was a member.  He was an old soldier and served in the 1st Colo Reg’t and was a member of Pfeiffer Post #36, Alamosa.  Died of Brights Disease.  Deceased was 64 years old and has no relatives in the U. S.

 

Meloney, Mrs. Jessie

Died at Salida hospital Wednesday morning Nov 21, 1900 at 6:30 a.m.  Buried in the Alamosa Cemetery, Nov 23 at 3:00 p.m. in Lot 16, Sec 2, Block 8.  She leaves a husband and two boys aged 5 and 3 years.  He is an operator in the Supt. 4th division’s office D&RGRR.  Cause of death: thrombosis or clotted blood in the veins of the leg.  Age 35 years, 4 mo.

 

Brasswell, Albert

Died at Salida, Colo Tuesday morning Nov 20, 1900.  Buried in the Alamosa Cemetery on Nov 22, 1900 under the auspices of the Brotherhood of Railway Fireman of which he was a member, being a fireman on the 3rd division of D&RGRR.  He was killed while taking the train over Marshall Pass.  He leaves a wife and two children.  Buried in F. M. Hare’s lot, Sec 1, Block 6, Lot 8.

 

Reakirt, J. C.

Died Jan 10, 1901 in Oliver’s Saloon in Alamosa on Thursday night Jan 10, 1901.  Died a natural death from the effects of whiskey.  Buried in A.C.A. on Jan 12, 1901 at 2:00 p.m.

 

McLaren, W. B.

Died Jan 23, 1901 at Monte Vista, Colo.  Buried by the Alamosa Camp No 21 of W. O. W. on Jan 24, 1901 in Sec 1, Block 9, Lot 1 of the Alamosa Cemetery.  He died of a broken blood vessel in his head caused by violent vomiting.  He was about 46 years old and leaves a wife and two children, age 3 and 5 in California.  He was the organizer of the Woodman band and was a thorough musician.  He was also a member of the Yuncrdio Lodge No 163 A.F.&A.M. of Rochester, NY.

 

Malburg, Infant

Daughter of Mr. and Mrs. N. J. Malmburg.  Died Saturday Feb 2, 1901.  Buried in the Alamosa Cemetery on Tuesday Feb 5, 1901 in Sec 1, Block 7, Lot 7.  Age 3 days.  In Oct 13, 1902 this body was transferred to Sec 1, Block 2, Lot 5 – the Malburg family plot.

 

Brown, William

Died Thursday evening Feb 21, 1901.  Buried in A. C. A. on Monday Feb 25, 1901 at 1:30 p.m. in Sec 1, Block 3, Lot 16.  He was killed by a switch engine in the Alamosa yards while switching on the night crew.  He was 44 years old and was the son of O. B. Brown, a painter and paper hanger, who has lived in Alamosa for years.  Buried under the auspices of pioneer Lodge No 108, B of L. F. of which he was a member.  He was a single man.  Had a sister living in Salt Lake City, Utah.

 

Morse, Fred

Died Thursday afternoon Mar 7, 1901.  Buried on Sunday mar 10, 1901 at 2 p.m. under the auspices of Pioneer Lodge 108, B of L. F.  He was 37 years old and leaves a wife and 2 children and a mother, Mrs. Hirst, and sister, Mrs. Shone.  He was killed on the Chile Line.  He was engineer of a light engine and in going down the hill hit a broken rail and threw the engine off the track, killing him instantly.  He was buried in the W. H. Hirst Lot – Sec 2, Block 8, Lot 13.  He was a resident of Alamosa since he was a child.

 

Smith, Mrs. Cynthia R.

Wife of John Jones Smith.  Died Thursday morning March 12, 1901 at 12:40 a.m.  Buried in the Alamosa Cemetery on Mar 13, 1901 at 3:00 p.m. in Sec 1, Block 5, Lot 1.  Cause of death: cancer.  She was operated on in the Salida hospital and died shortly after bringing her home.

 

Shaffer, Fred

Son of D. H. Shaffer.  Died at San Luis, Colo Tuesday Mar 12, 1901 at 5:00 p.m.  Buried in the Alamosa Cemetery on Mar 14 at 3:00 p.m. in Sec 1, Block 5, Lot 8.  Funeral services at the house 6 miles SE of town where his parents live.  Was 6 years old and died of after effects of scarlet fever and croup.

 

Dorris, Henry Clay

Died Friday Mar 15, 1901 at 5:30 a.m.  Buried in the Alamosa Cemetery on Sunday mar 17, 1901 at 12:00 p.m.  He was about 65 years old and leaves a wife, 2 sons, and 4 daughters.  Mrs. Mullins, Lewis, and Goodall.  Cause of death: He got up in the morning and told his wife he ws going to the stable to feed the horses (on his ranch 10 miles northwest of Alamosa) where he drew a .44 calibre revolver he had concealed, put the barrel in his mouth, and shot himself.  He was killed instantly.  Buried in Sec 2, Block 5, Lot 14.  He was known by the name of Frank Dorris and had lived in the Valley for about 25 years.

 

Johannsen, Claus

Died about 1:00 a.m. Monday morning Mar 25, 1901.  Buried in Sec 2, Block 7, Lot 9 in Alamosa Cemetery on Mar 27, 1901 at 1:00 p.m.  He was 56 years old and a brother of Hans Johannsen.  It is supposed he died of heart disease as he didn’t complain of feeling bad.

 

Tobin, Viola

Daughter of Thomas and Dorritas Tobin.  Died on April 11, 1901 and was buried in the Alamosa Cemetery at 2:00 p.m. April 12, 1901 inSEc 2, Block 2, Lot 8.

 

Slaughter, Alpretta

Colored.  Sister of Mrs. Florence Mays of Silverton.  Died April 23, 1901 at Alamosa, Colo.  Buried on April 24 at 4:00 p.m. in Sec 2, Block 1, Lot 7.  Cause of death: acute bronchitis.  Age 27 years.  She was interred on A. Powers lot with prmission of I. S. Carter who holds deed for the same.

 

Duran, Child

Child of Alfonso Duran.  Died in Mexican settlement across the river on April 30, 1901.  Buried in Alamosa Cemetery in Potters Field #48.  Age 14 mo.  Cause of death: diptheria.

 

Heckmont, Sarah

Mother-in-law of F. A. Walling.  Died May 30, 1901 at 2:00 p.m.  Buried May 31, 1901 in Alamosa Cemetery in Sec 1, Block 3, Lot 9,  Cause of death: pneumonia.  Age 8 years, 2 mo, 25 days.

 

Dedrick, Nancy L.

2nd wife of H. L. Dedrick.  Died May 31, 1901 at 1:30 a.m.  Buried in Alamosa Cemetery on June 2, 1901 in Sec 2, Block 7, Lot 12.  Disease: inward hemorrhage.  Age 29 years, 2 mo.

 

Carlton, Harry

Son of Mr. and Mrs. G. A. Verback of Mosca.  Drowned in the San Luis Lake Saturday June 8, 1901.  Buried in the Alamosa Cemetery in Sec 1, Block 2, Lot 1 on June 19, 1901 at 12:00 noon.  Age 21 years.  He and a young man went from Mosca to the lakes fishing and the boat capsized and the two boys drowned.  The body wasn’t discovered until 7 days after when it rose to the surface.  He was a member of W. O. W. of Mosca.

 

Austin, Ray

Brother of E. E. Austin of Mosca, Colo.  Drowned in the San Luis Lakes on Saturday, June 8, 1901.  Buried in the Alamosa Cemetery on Wednesday June 19, 1901 in Sec 1, Block 2, Lot 1.  He was drowned while fishing with Harry Carlton Verback.  The body came to the surface after 10 days.  Age 27 years.

Adopted son of W. M. and Mae E. Hill.  Died Aug 26, 1901.  Buried in Alamosa Cemetery on Aug 27, 1901 at 10:30 a. m. in Sec 2, Block 7, Lot 12.  Age 3 mo.  Its parents were H. L. and N. L. Dedrick.  Mother died soon after birth of twins.  The other child still lives.

Died Friday night Oct 4, 1901 at 12:00 p.m.  Buried Sunday Oct 6, 1901 in Sec 1, Block 7, Lot 6 in Alamosa Cemetery.  She was born in China.  Age 55.  Disease: general disability and gangrene of the limbs.  She had lived in Alamosa for 24 years and when she died she was running a boarding house for women of ill repute.

Daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Scotty Heckman.  Died at Salida, Colo on Nov 23, 1901 of spinal meningitis.  Buried in Alamosa Cemetery in Sec 2, Block 2, Lot 6 on Nov 25, 19091 at 2:00 p.m.  Age 4 years, 8 mo, 17 days.  She was the daughter of Mrs. Scotty Heckman and Chas Eckles, her first husband who died on Mar 31, 1898.

Died on Jan 9, 1902 at 10:00 a.m. at the Interocean Hotel.  Came to Alamosa from El Paso, Texas.  He has a sister in Michigan, but his parents and relatives live in Holland.  He came to Alamosa for his health.  Deceased was supposed to be about 18 years old.  He was buried in Sec 1, Block 7, Lot 8.  Buried on Jan 11, 1902 at 5:00 p.m.  Cause of death: consumption.

Son of Mr. and Mrs. John Gerteisen.  Died at Wagon Wheel Gap on July 6, 1902.  Buried in Alamosa Cemetery on July 9, 1902 in Sec 2, Block 9, Lots 11 & 12.  Age 19 years, 6 mo, 16 days.  Causes of death: self-inflicted pistol shot in the mouth.  No cause for the deed known.  Buried in stone vault underneath ground, according to wishes.

Price.  Died on April 16, 1903.  Buried on April 20, 1903 in Sec 2, Block 8, Lot 4.  Age 36 years.  Disease: diabetes.  Deceased was on his way to Little Rock, Arkansas and got as far as Coffeeville, Kansas where he was taken worse and they had to discontinue the journey.  He died soon after leaving the train. He was accompanied by the wife and David Price, Jr.

Goff, Zachariah

Died on June 15, 1904.  Buried on June 17, 1904 in the Alamosa Cemetery.  Age 77 years.  Cause of death: He was drowned while fishing in the Rio Grande River about 3 miles this side of South Fork.  Upon examination, the cause of death was not drowning, but indications point to heart failure of some kind sa there wasn’t water found in the lungs and eyes and mouth were closed.

Brown.  Died on Feb 3, 1905.  Buried on Feb 5, 1905 in Sec 1, Block 3, Lot 16.  Her son William is buried in grave in the SE corner.  Age 74 years.  Mrs. Brown was an old timer here having lived here 25 to 30 years.  She leaves a husband and married daughter, Mrs. Flynn, who lives in Salt Lake City, Utah.  Mrs. Brown passed away while asleep without a struggle.

Removed from McGinty Cemetery on Mar 12, 1905 and buried in Alamosa Cemetery on Mar 12, 1905 in Sec 1, Block 4, Lot 7.  Mrs. James A. Richardson witnessed the removal of the remains of above.  On August 1, 1912, the remains of James A. Richardson’s brother were removed from McGinty Cemetery and interred along side him in the same lot on above date.

Infant daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Schurman.  Died on March 13, 1905.  Buried on March 14, 1905 in Sec 1, Block 8, Lot 4.  Cause of death: kidney trouble.  Age 7 days.  Born on March 6, 1905.

 

Garcia, Mrs. Luz

Died on Mar 9, 1905.  Buried on Mar 25, 1905 in Sec 1, Block 7, Lot 14.  The above deceased was drowned in the Rio Grande River about 100 yards below the Costilla County bridge on the night of Mar 9, 1905 while in an intoxicated state and was not found until Mar 25, 1905 at 3:30 p.m. and was buried at 5:30 p.m. of the same day.  The county paid all expenses, she being a pauper without finances or money.

Simons, Alfred Newton

Son of Mrs. Joseph R. Simons.  Died on May 21 at 9:00 a.m.  Buried on May 23, 1905 in Sec 1, Block 9, Lot 15.  Age 33 years.  The above deceased was killed in a runaway whle driving a team from the Medano Ranch to Alamosa.  The accident happened 3 or 4 miles east of Mosca.  He was caught in the front running gear of the buggy and was dragged to death.  He leaves 2 sisters and 4 brothers and a mother.

Son of Carlos Newton.  Died on June 23, 1905 at 11:30 p.m.  Buried on June 25, 1905 at 10 a.m. in Sec 1, Block 7, Lot 11.  Age 32 years.  Disease: lung trouble, hemorrhage.

Infant son of Benijido Espinosa.  Died on July 11, 1905 at 9 a.m.  Buried on July 12, 1905 in Sec 1, Block 7, Lot 11.  Cause of death: heart trouble.  Age 3 mo.

Son of Francisco Ribera.  Died on Saturday Aug 6, 1905.  Buried on Sunday Aug 6, 1905 at 2:00 p.m. in Sec 1, Block 7, Lot 11.  Cause of death: fever.  Age 1 year, 9 mo.

Infant daughter of Antonio Jaramillo.  Died on Aug 12, 1905 at 6:00 a.m.  Buried on Aug 12, 1905 at 3:00 p.m. in Sec 1, Block 7, Lot 11.  Age 2 years, 2 mo, 13 days.  Cause of death: pneumonia.

 

Sewell, Sarah J.

Wife of Samuel Sewell.  Died on Aug 11, 1905 near Grand Junction, Colo.  Buried in the Alamosa Cemetery in an underground vault in Sec 2, Block 9, Lot 7 at 11:30 a.m. on Aug 15, 1905.  Disease: typhoid pneumonia.  Age 65 years.  She leaves a husband, son, and two daughters, Mrs. Young and Mrs. Coffee.

 

Thompson, George Washington

Buried in Alamosa Cemetery on Aug 16, 1905 in Sec 1, Block 5, Lot 11.  Age 50 years.  He was an engineer on the D&RGRR and was killed instantly by his engine turning over about 6 miles out of Silverton, Colo.  He was badly scalded after death.  He leaves a wife who lives in Silverton, and sons and daughters to mourn his death.  He was well known and had resided in Alamosa for along time up to the last year.

 

Ortega, Isabel

Infant daughter of Samuel Ortega.  Died on Aug 23, 1905 at 5:00 a.m.  Buried on Aug 23, 1905 in Sec 1, Block 7, Lot 11.  Cause of death: whooping cough.  Age 25 days.

 

Martinez, Delvenia

Infant daughter of Francisco Martinez.  Died on Sept 5, 1905.  Buried on Sept 6, 1905 at 10:00 a.m. in Sec 1, Block 7, Lot 11.  Cause of death: pneumonia.  Age 7 mo.

 

Crofeet, Cliford Leroy

Infant son of C. D. Crofeet.  Works in D&RG shops.  Died on Sept 19, 1905.  Buried on Sept 20, 1905 in Sec 1, Block 2, Lot 3.  Cause of death: stomach trouble.  Age 2 mo.

 

McLeod, Norman

Died 1 p.m. on Sept 9, 1905 in the Engine House in Alamosa.  Buried on Sept 10, 1905 at 2:00 p.m. in Sec 1, Block 7, Lot 11 of Alamosa Cemetery.  About 40.  Died of asthma.  He came from Tecumseh. Jackson Co., Neb. and was sick only 3 or 4 days before death.
